IE Locks up computer with Java 1.31.01

I have an issue with some computers that are all running IE 5.5 on NT4.0 with Celeron 700, Diamond Stealth Video card, 128 RAM, and NIC card. Plenty of room on the hard drive and the system runs fine otherwise. It locks up when opening and closing with Java 1.31.01 and it locks up if you try and open the Java console. I don’t want to except that we can’t run IE with the Java Runtime on these particular computers. Thanks,
