IE5.0 text display – decenders

In IE5, the text does not display correctly for characters with decenders, such as g, p, y, q, (, etc. Once I scroll past the text, the decenders disappear. Sometimes, it leaves an outline. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Yes, my video drivers are correct, and current.
