I have been given a Dell Dimension to fix which has W98 SE. I can connect to an ISP without a problem but it will not pull down any emails from any ISPs email servers, it keeps saying that it can’t find them. If I try to browse it says can’t open the search page and will not load any webpages whatsoever. I don’t know who upgraded IE from 5 to 5.5 but i’m guessing the upgrade went slightly wrong therefore messing up the above. I was going to use the w98lite IEradicator to remove IE5.5 and also uninstall Outlook and also remove everything from Network Neighborhood and add Dial up Adapter etc again to see if this solves the problem. If it doesn’t work I assume I will need to format and reinstall W98 again?
Anyone seen anything like this before or can advise me about what I could do to fix this?
