IE6 in Win XP Home

In say, Hotmail, when replying to an e-mail the boxes above, what is called I believe a child window, in which you write your reply are squashed vertically. I mean the ones that say “send” “clear” etc. Same on other sites with some boxes disappearing altogether so you cannot make the site work. It may be my fault with changing fonts but how do I get it back please.
