IE6 problem

iam having windows98se system with 128mb ram.recently i have upgraded IE to IE6, since then iam just able to open sites but if i try to open any links from any sites it is not opening.
to clear this problem i went through add/remove programs from controlpanel i tried to remove IE6 but it has shown 3 options. even after tried all 3 options i couldnt get result moreover operating system performance became down, it was shoing errors which are related to internet explorer. then i reinstalled OS (overwriten)then it has come to normal position, still internet explorer having the same problem. anybody can help me, thanks in advance.
