IIS

I’m trying to set up IIS on XP and noticed that it said something about hard drive needing to be formatted as NTFS. Is this absolutely necessary? I know that the transition is easy but I worry about losing info when changing my file system. (yes Iknow, be sure to back up. But, I still don’t trust backups)
