IIS 4.0 problems

I’m new to web servers and am having some problems. I have an NT4.0 server sp6a and am trying to get IIS4.0 to run right. I’ve reinstalled IIS4.0 (Option Pack 4)a dozen times so far. My pages publish to the net and all, but the server keeps crashing. I’ve installed the update of MMC, but still have problems. It gives me reports of odbc.dll problems a lot. I think the problem lies in the transaction server. Everytime it hangs, the application event log reports and error occuring during a run-time environment call to a COM API, which causes the process to terminate. Anyway, I haven’t a clue what the problem could be. I’m ready to just dump it and try some other software like Apache. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
