ilegal operation for application VB6

When I try to install one application wrote in VB6 to the Win98 Japanese PCs, it got an ilegal operation stated that “msvcrt.dll” file is ilegal operation due to memory stack problem. I already applied speu.exe from Microsoft to update the library, but what I noticed is msvcrt.dll still didn’t update after applied the file. What is the latest version for msvcrt.dll for suitable to use in VB6 application. Your advice is appreciated. TQ
