Illegal Op using Win98 / Adobe Acrobat4

My company is scanning multiple page documents into pdf format using Adobe Acrobat 4.0 (not the reader) and saving them across the network on a server. Several persons are doing this process on different PC’s and all have similar problems with I/O during different stages of it. Anyone else experiencing these problems?
