I have recently formatted my C drive, and amongst having problems with the display characteristics of my monitor, I have been unable to install a Lexmark printer (although my HP4L works satisfactorily). System specification is :-
Motherboard – Intel CA810E
Display – Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)
Processor ? 700 MHz Pentium III
Windows 98SE
The above specification has been confirmed using both ?Belarc Advisor? and the ?Driver Guide Toolkit? (the latter from Centric).
When I have tried installing the Lexmark software, the following message is displayed :-
?This printer could not be installed. Quite all programs, restart Windows, and then try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.?
The problem persists ! Whilst trying to run one of the other setup (!) files, I have received a further message :-
?There are no valid INF files for this operating system. Unable to continue installation.?
What are INF files, is this perhaps the problem with my printer installation (and maybe my monitor display ?), and how do I rectify ?
