Infrared on Windows 2000 Pro

I have a Compaq laptop E500 running Win2k pro, the problem is when I look at my infrared port in device manager it has a yellow exclamation and is giving me a code 10 error, does anyone know how to correct this? I tryed to remove the device and add it again but with the same result error code 10. I have other laptops that are Compaq E500’s and they all work fine.
