install lock up

I am attempting to install Win 2k server on a p3/800 w/via 82c686a chipset and seagate hd, install setup stalls and locks up at the server startup screen. even an install on an identical machine will lock up on this machine. windows 98 se runs fine.the mobo is a Tekram S3pro au
