I transfered my network card (NE 2000)and the hard drive from an old computer and to a newer upgraded AMD Duron 1Ghz. I am having trouble getting the network card to work with my cable modem.
The computer settings for Device managers shows nothing wrong and I set the DHCP as recommended by AT&T and when I tried run winipcfg and select the network adapter and tried release it does not respond and no error message. The default getway is blank and the Subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. I had some numbers in the Auto IPconfiguration address.
I have two computers hooked up to the cable modem thru a router (SMC) working which was the old and the other working one. I am also using the same Nic and operating system Win98 1st ed as in the old computer.
What I am doing wrong or what I need to do more?
