Installing hard drive on Solaris

by andrewchristiandc . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

Okay, so I got this Sun Ultra 5. I’m trying to use the LiveUpgrade process to go from (Sparc) Solaris 9 to Solaris 10.

In LiveUpgrad utility I’ve made a boot environment, but when I try to clone my (active) boot environment the utility returns a message that it can’t find acceptable slice.

So I’m thinking that I should just pop in another additional hard drive, throw some slices on there and then we’re good.

So I use an IDE cable to plug my Quantum 40 GB Hard Drive into the motherboard, reboot.

Check /dev/dsk and find my new hard drive.

So next I neet to format?

I use format but it shows drive 0 and drive 1 but not drive 2.

How can I format that f***er and continue with my Live Upgrade??
