Installing IIS for intranet

With all of the problems with viruses I would like to ask for opinions on installing Internet information Server on a NT 4.0 server just for intranet. I am not a real experienced Admin so I do not want to open my self up to more problems than it isworth. I have my server behind a firewall and I have up to date Virus program. What do you think?
