installing new drive problem

i have a ibm netvista with win xp I recently
bought a new hard disk.
I inserted the new hard disk in the computer and
I started the computer and I see the message

1962 no operating system found
press f1 to repeat boot sequence

after pressing f1 I see
PXE-E61 media test failure check cable
PXE-M0F: exiting intel PXE rom

I inserted a cd with win XP Prof to install
but nothing happened only the above mentioned.
what may be the problem
I checked all cables they are all fine.
please notify me what to do.
