In my office we have decided to upgrade our network by bringing in a new server as a PDC to replace the existing P2. This is an NT 4.0 network. The existing PDC serves as DNS, DHCP, and WINS server. By the time we are ready to do this we will have a P3 1Ghz machine available as a BDC. We will retain NT 4.0 for now. Is the best practice to install DNS and WINS on the BDC, promote it to PDC (after which the original PDC will be taken off the network and reformatted) and then add DHCP to the new PDC along with such apps and data as we need to carry over? Or is there a better way? What problems might we encounter? Thanks for the help.
