Installing Photoshop 7 on Windows xp

I’m having problems installing Photoshop 7 on my computer. It’s a new computer, Lenova with Windows XP Home Edition. After placing the Photoshop CD in the CD/DVD drive and when it first starts to install, it suddendly stops, the hour glass from the cursor vanishes without any error messages at all. I’ve also tried to install the setup files manually through ‘my computer….’. Has anyone had this problem or can anyone help?
