Installing samsung S-203 DVD RW SATA drive on ASUS K8V SE

I am trying to replace my old IDE DVD drives with a Samsung SH S-203 DVD RW drive. My hard drives are currently connected to IDE, so all the SATA ports were unused on the MB. I connected the new SATA DVD RW to the Primary SATA channel on the MB and to the power supply. I then went into the BIOS and enabled the SATA controller. Windows XP Pro SP2 loads up fine (as before) but no DVD drive is recognised! I tried finding new hardware but no joy. Help pelase?
