Installing windows2000 on slim laptop

Hi,

I have a sharp pc-um10 laptop which is very slim and comes with external floppy and cd-rom drive. It is pre-installed with WinME. I would like to have a clean install on the laptop using Window 2000. However it seems to be impossible to be done. Booting using the cd would give errors that it could not detect the USB cd-rom. I tried to install using dos command prompt, but still fails. I need to clean install windows 2000 because winME installation seems to disturb the running of ProEngineer. I really hope you could help me solve this problem.
