installing workstation

by mjkqb . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

Trying to install NT Workstation. Have 17 gig HD 1 Primary partition, 1 extended,
8 logical drives in extended. Everything fat 16. Have already installed
98 on c drive and NT Server on d drive. Trying to use E drive for
Workstation. Get following errors during setup.
1. Partition. you’ve selected is recognized by NT but is unformatted
or damaged. Setup will reformat this partition. Press C, I do so and
receive error #2.

2.Your C drive is unformatted or damaged or formatted with a file
system that is not compatible with NT. Setup will reformat partition.
All datat on C will be lost.

I ran into the same problem when installing Server. I had to make sure
the drive was not formatted before installing. My E drive is not yet formatted, yet no luck installing Workstation. The only difference I can think of is that none of the other drives had been formatted yet when I
installed Server. Now they are formatted (with exception of E) and have tons of files on them which I don’t want to delete then reinstall.

Help! Thanks
One other thing, when menu for selecting which drive to install on appears, all drives are listed as damaged or unformatted. Also only 8 gigs are listed, the other 8 gigs are listed as unpartitioned. also the install CD is an evalution version for MSCE study and is fairly old.
