Intel Mother D975xbx2. , Can’t add either a Pata or a Sata drive to system

Raid5 working on Matrix (black connectors)Trying to add a single sata drive. Tried red connector. NG. How do I add a Sata drive or drives? Part 2 of my problem. Using slave IDE port for dvd. Works OK. Tried to add a Pata drive as Master and system hangs with message “hall.dll missing or corruped”. Would like to use Pata as a data drive only. That is contine to boot from Raid5 “C” drive. What must I do to add this drive? I did tell the BIOS to use it. Op system Vista, Duo2. Appreciate any advice.Gerry
