Internet Check

I can see many programs accessing the memory, giving me the details about the programs using the memory in my computer. But, I would like to find a program that checks what programs and browsers are using how much of my internet connection. I am currently using a V.9 56K modem, and my connection is always bombarded even though I only have a few Internet browsers open, and also only a few downloads. I notice that the downloads only range in less than 2K/sec.

If there is any program that can help me check why this is so, I would gladly accept it. Thanks in advance.
