I installed Windows XP recently. All systems went well but then I installed Norton FireWall and discovered it was for an NT system. I uninstalled it and installed BlackIce Firewall for a cable model home computer. Since the NT Firewall was installed, my computer has not been able to connect to my cable modem unless I reboot the machine numerous times or “Repair” the connection numerous times. It now takes about 10 minutes before my computer can go “on-line”.
I have test my current Firewall to see if it is the problem, by removing it from the start-up in MSConfig (Services and Startup) and I still have connectivity problems. I also tried to “restore” my Windows XP but I still have the same problem. Cox Cable company has checked mycable connection and my external modem and it is not a cable problem.
It appears some of connections have been modified. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for your time.
