internet connectivity problems w/ WinXP

Has anyone encountered a connectivity problem on the WinXP Pro platform where all computers in a work group can operate fine but one (or more) can’t connect to a shared network printer or connect to the internet? In my case this is a home network, all computers are running XP SP-1, the printer is an HP all-in-one connected to an HP jetdirect 300x. On the machine that can’t see the printer or connect to the internet i can ping all devices that I can’t connect to as well as ping the yahoo.com IP address, but if you try to ping the name yahoo.com you can’t get there, also I can ping the printer address I just can’t connect. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time and assiatance
