Internet Explorer Problem

Hi
in the last week or so everytime i try to download a file from the net, and sometimes when i access websites, i get a message ‘cannot open the site……connection with the server was reset’
this is after i have started downloading.
I am running w2k server, with IE5.00.2920.0000
and a 56k dial up connection.
Does anyone have any idea why i keep getting this message???
