Internet sharing

I have a zfs3005 5 port switch, my cable is routed to the 1st port.MY PC and laptob are in sloths 2 and 3. On Both I have winxp pro. One has internet the laptop does not, both seem to have identical network settings.The laptop when i try to renew ipcannot. What can I do to have internet on both?
