I’ve created a master system and want to use SysPrep and Norton Ghost to image it and deploy other systems. I used Setup Manager to create the SysPrep folder and files, and double-checked the contents of the sysprep.inf. I did not specify the ProductID key in sysprep.inf at that time. I ran SysPrep on the master machine and captured the image. I was able to restore the image to another unit without problems. However, when the mini setup asks for the product ID, any number I put in there isrejected with “The Product Id you entered is not valid.” I’ve tried the CD key from 5 different sources and none of them work. The biggest problem is now I can’t boot the master system either for the same reason.
I have tried editing the sysprep.inf file with the Recovery Console to no avail. Is there a generic license key available for Win2K, much like there was for NT, or is there something else going on here?
