Inventory Software

I am in need of software that will tell software and license on each computer on the network. I just took over a position and I afraid that there are duplicates on several machines. We are audited once a year and need to check this ASAP. Is therea demo of some kind or cheap software out there? I also need to know basic hardware config of each machine. Please help me.
