Hello,
I’ve promoted this new box to a PDC and taken it offline. It is currently a secondary DNS server. It will soon be the new AD/GC/Root server after the Win2k upgrade. I need to change the IP address to match a BDC (soon to be offline – backup) which happens to be the primary DNS server in our ‘single’ domain. Right now, way too many devices point to this address, that is why I need to re-use this address.
1. Can I just change the IP address of this secondary DNS server in NT?
2. Can I just change the zones from “secondary” to “primary” and then modify whatever DNS entries in NT?
3. If this actually works, and if I actually modify these entries, I want to upgrade this offline box to Windows 2000 Adv server and then bring it back online, will the other NT BDC’s bark?
Any help would be much appreciated!
