IP addressing

by mjkqb . Updated 25 years ago

Recently upgraded from NT to W2000pro and advanced server on my home network. I’m having troubles adding a new W2000pro workstation to the domain. Always get the same error “network path not found”. I have installed AD and DNS on the server and haveadded a new computer object for the new wrkstn in AD. In the past I have always used the DHCP from my ISP for IP addressing. I assume I need to set a static IP on my server so I can point my workstations to this static address as my preferred DNS server. If this is correct, I have no clue on how to configure a static IP address. How do I come up with an appropriate IP address, subnet mask and default gateway? Are there any other reasons why this new computer won’t join the domain? Thanks
