IPCONFIG error message

by pdando . Updated 24 years ago

I click Start | Run | cmd.exe

I want to check my network adapter settings, so I type IPCONFIG.EXE at the prompt (which happens to be defaulted at D:\Documents and Settings\Patsy Dando>)

What is being displayed is a message that states: ‘IPCONFIG.EXE’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file…

So, I decide to do a little investigating…I check the path of the file, and find out that it is in the D:\Windows\System32\ directory…Hmm, very odd,I look at the title bar and find out that the ‘CMD.EXE’ program is running in the D:\Windows\System32\ directory…or is that nothing, I wonder…

So now I decide to change the directory from “D:\Documents and Settings\Patsy Dando” to “D:\Windows\System32”

OK, here we go, I type the ‘IPCONFIG.EXE’ line again and what do you know it works…

I unsuccessfully searched the net for an answer to this problem…

I really need some help…Someone please help me!!!
