Hi everyone,
Our small company (around 80 employees) is still running on an on-premises Exchange 2016 server. It’s been stable, but managing updates, security patches, and storage is getting more of a headache every year.
I’ve been considering migrating everything to Microsoft 365, but I’m a bit unsure if it’s the right move right now. Some concerns I have:
Cost: Subscriptions for 80 users add up quickly compared to our current setup.
Downtime during migration: We can’t afford major disruption since email is mission-critical for us.
Data security and compliance: A few clients require certain data residency rules — not sure if Microsoft 365 can guarantee this for us.
For those of you who’ve already made the jump from Exchange on-prem to Microsoft 365, how smooth was the transition? Was it worth it in terms of reduced admin workload and reliability?
Would love to hear real-world experiences before I pitch this to leadership.
