Is the PC Card I/II format fading away?

I’ve been out of the loop for a while now. But as I hunt around for a new laptop, I find that most of the top manufacturers are now using the ExpressCard (34 or 54) instead of the PC Card format. In most of these cases, you don’t even have the option to have a PC Card slot rather than ExpressCard. There are a few manufacturers who still do offer PC Cards, e.g., Gateway. My cellular AirCard is a PC Card. I note that they are now producing ExpressCard/54 format AirCards. Now I am wondering if I should get a laptop with a PC Card format or ExpressCard and just upgrade my AirCard as well. Is the PC Card format fading away???
