Java Script (Help!!)

I have made a website using frames and have a dropdown navigation menu on the left hand side. How do I get the menu items to open up in the main page of my frames? Do I need to add a special line in the menu script for this to work? I have tryed different approaches and nothing has worked so far. I am new to Java Script and am getting frustrated. You are my last resort for help. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
