joining XP Pro to an NT 4 Domain

Whenever I join and XP Pro client to my NT domain, it takes nearly 5 minutes before you can log in. It says “wait for list of domains to be read”. I assume it’s reading the browse list of our 100+ domains across the WAN. is there any way to disable this??
