Julian Date Conv. & Messages to Mobiles

I have two technical questions to ask.

1. Is there any way of converting the julian date on a unix system to a normal date format and back again using a Korn shell shell script?

2. Is there any way of sending messages to mobile phones (SMS) using sendmail on a unix server?
