Just Lecturing or Showing the Way?

I wonder, what my colleagues teaching classes or groups on a regular basis (Windows basics, Word, Excel) offer as a standard part of the teaching process:
1) lectures coupled with practical tasks to do in class (and that is it);
2) the above plus a course program;
3) 1) + 2) and a list of skills that a trainee would normally have by the end of the course.
