KERNEL Trap in Win2000 OS

My client has a Dell p3 laptop with a KERNEL32.DLL trap and memory dump when launching any game. Is there a quick fix? I tried to find a system file checker routine to locate corrupt file(s) – to no avail. I wonder if just inserting a new KERNEL32.DLL in windows file would resolve it.
