keyboard bug

From time to time my computer seems to activate a bug which allows the keyboard to open programs with a single keystroke. eg. f opens find file, e opens explorer & so on. The only way to clear the fault is to reboot, which is a pain in the butt if you’re half way through a job. Do you have any clue to overcoming this fault? Thankyou.
