Keyboard failure

I have a Windows 98 Toshiba 4100XCDT notebook, which was working fine till last week. Then gradually the system became slower, and then the keyboard failed. I fitted a new keyboard, but no change. I ran Pc-Check which reported the keyboard controller was ok. CAn anyone help?
