LAN Connection is disabled.

I have a customer who is using a Thinkpad T23 with port replicator.
Windows 2K SP2
Every couple of months his LAN connects is automaticly disabled. He has no ISP applications installed onto the laptop. Does anyone know why out of the blue Windows would disable his LAN connection?
