The network server is running Windows 2000, but most computers are using Windows 98, and mine uses XP Professional. I can connect to the Proxy server, but not to the application servers, and not to most other computers. The servers and other computers show up on My Network Places. I can see folders and printers on other computers, but when I try to access them, nothing happens ? the computer tries to connect (Windows logo waves) but doesn?t get anywhere. If a password is required, the ?Connect to [computer name]? dialog doesn?t close when OK is clicked.
Where do I start to track down the problem? Excuse me if I’m missing something obvious – my field is application software, but since I signed up for this job the scope of it has expandedalarmingly. There is a network admin guy here but he doesn?t know how to help me with this one.
