w2k server/lan modem
I have a windows 2000 network with active directory. The ip address for my server is 192.168.1.1, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. My PCs have static ip addresses. I share the connection with 10 workstations using static ip addresses. The workstations use 3COM’S 56K LAN MODEM(attached to network adapter of 1 workstation) The lan modems address is the default gateway and primary dns on the workstation. The w2k server’s address is set as the secondary dns. I can get internet access from these workstations and also the network resources. I have a workstation setup with administrative tools. I get access the internet from this workstation, but I cannot access active directory. If I make the wk2 server’s address the primary dns, I cannot access the internet.
Why can’t I access active directory and how do I correct.
Also, on some workstations, it takes a while before I can get an internet connection. I can ping the lan modem and get a response back. I received “page cannot be displayed”when I try to access the ie5.5.
