Laptop DVD problems

Purchased a year and a half ago. Over the last month or more I’ve experienced problems with DVD’s sound and video. CD funcions seem fine. It plays DVDs, but there seems to be a tracking problem (interrupting about 2-3 times a second), I still can’t tell if it’s soft or hardware problem at this point, even after taking steps to reduce video memory drags. Although I’m about convinced it’s a Hardware problem now.
