Laptop freezes at startup

Hi,

I want to try to boot my laptop from the usb flash drive after I have created the bootable flash drive, because my laptop just freezes at the screen with the manufacturer logo after i switch it on. Will booting from the flash drive delete my existing files and stuff I have on the laptop?
