Laptop hangs after connecting to BSNL broadband

I’m using Wipro Laptop (Windows Xp SP2). When I connect broadband, after the connection is established successfully, in few secs, the system hangs and have to force shutdown.

For setting up the broadband connectivity, I used the built-in PPPoE of windows Xp.

The same thing worked fine with my earlier laptop. I’m facing this problem only with this laptop. My PC also works fine but it is windows 2003.
