I am have searched about and am unable to find an answer to this question:
How to set-up different network connections for home and office environments using Windows 2000 Pro on a laptop?
Example:
The office network has a W2K Server and a domain name of ‘companydom.com’; the user has a laptop with Win2000 Pro and connects to this network using DHCP with a wired Ethernet Card.
At home, the user has a small home peer to peer network using Win Pro 2000 and Win 98 computers with a cable modem connection to the internet. The laptop has a wireless card and connects to the home network with it. The home peer to peer network has no domain, but has a workgroup name ‘homegroup’.
How would one go about setting up the laptop so that it could easily switch between the two network envoronments?
I could not find much in Win 2000 help or technet, except the respective NIC crads would need to be enable and disabled depending on the environment. Easy eneough, but what about Network Identification? And logons? And anyother considerations?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
