laptop keys not functioning

I tried installing a wireless keyboard and mouse to my Compaq Evo 410 laptop. The wireless devices did not work, and now, none of the keys on the laptop work. I have connected an external keyboard and mouse for now, but how can I get the laptop keys to function properly? I am running windows 2000 on this machine.
