I’ve asked this question before and received many possible solutions. After implementing and/or checking some or all of the proposed solutions, the problem went away and I considered the problem solved. However, the problem reared its ugly head again. (Shortly after closing that previous question.) So here we go again.
Laptop: Sony Vaio, 800MHz PIII, built-in NIC, Windows 2000 Professional, basically used as a desktop – no docking station.
Network: Windows NT 4.0 LAN – typical small office network, nothing fancy.
Problem: The laptop will randomly (emphasis on randomly) lose its network connection. It might go all day without losing the connection, or it might lose the connection several times a day. Rebooting the computer connectsit to the network every time.
I’ve tried a lot of things, but I think I will not list those attempted fixes so I can consider anyones ideas. I’ve tried all the obvious simple things and/or some not so obvious obscure things. I haven’t reloaded the Operating system, but I will only as a last resort. (It’s no big deal, but this user is resisting that.)
